The structures of the Maginot Line

Because of its position on the frontier, Northern Alsace has retained the traces of a turbulent history

Reputed to be indestructible, the Maginot Line was intended to defend France from German invasion. Throughout the landscape of Northern Alsace, many of the constructions are still visible (bunkers, forts, blockhouses, etc.). Visiting them allows you to relive the lives of the soldiers in these exceptional structures.

The fortification of Schoenenbourg at Hunspach ​At 30 m underground, this structure from the 1930s is still equipped with all the original elements. Visits are possible from 1 April to 31 October

The structure of the Four-à-Chaux at Lembach
Fortification constructed between 1930 and 1935 to defend the Franco-German frontier. Visits from 30 March to 1 November.​

Musée de l'Abri à Hatten
