The Regional Nature Park of the Northern Vosges
Northern Alsace is partly covered by the Regional Nature Park of the Northern Vosges, also recognised by UNESCO as a world biosphere reserve. This classification ensures you will find an exceptional natural environment and a well protected countryside. You can climb the foothills of the Vosges Mountains or explore the sandstone cliffs and dense forests. From time to time ruined Castles loom on rocky crags deep in the forest .
The numerous projects of the Regional Nature Park of the Northern Vosges are aimed at protecting the exceptional architectural, religious, historical and cultural heritage of our region.
A park with an exceptional natural environment
Created in 1975, the Regional Nature Park of the Northern Vosges has a very rich environmental heritage. It is characterised by a gentle terrain as well as landscapes dotted with clearings and ponds. The forest, which covers 65% of the territory, is home to a wide range of fauna. You may come across deer, stags, wild boar and, if you are really lucky, lynx and black tits…
This exceptional richness makes it worthy of the rare label "World biosphere reserve" awarded by UNESCO, as well as the award of excellence from the Eden competition "Tourism and protected areas".
